Fred Keller’s claim he will create good paying jobs is a demonstration in political gaslighting. Keller has a long history of fighting tooth and nail against workers and their right to better wages.
As a State Representative, Fred Keller sponsored legislation that would have increased the threshold of the Prevailing Wage Act from $25,000 to $185,000. The Prevailing Wage Act ensures that workers on public construction projects over a certain budget are paid a fair wage. Increasing the threshold sevenfold would strip blue collar workers – that Keller claims he wants to help – of money they need to survive. Keller also voted for fiercely anti-union bills in 2016 and 2017.
Thanks to his unrelenting attacks on workplace organizing, Keller was even named Pennsylvania Right to Work Statesman of the Year in 2012. This award is given to the legislator who does the most to reduce the wages of workers on public contracts.
“You cannot be for jobs and be against workers,” said Claire Gray, Friedenberg campaign manager. “If the 12th district is going to grow economically, then we need to ensure that every worker in it has a living wage and economic opportunity. Fred Keller wants workers to have nothing more than pauper wages.”
The Special Election for the 12th Congressional District will take place May 21, 2019. You may find Marc’s platform and upcoming events at https://marcforpa.com/.
