Here’s the first in what I plan to be a regular series of #ThankfulTuesday spotlights on everyday members of the community who have gone above and beyond in helping the campaign.
I met Margie Swoboda through her involvement as part of the committee that hosted last year’s Constitution Day festival in Centre Hall, PA (speaking of which, be sure to circle Sunday, September 16 on your calendar for this year’s festival: http://www.constitutiondaycentre.org). Margie is retired from her career as a teacher at the State College Area High School (a remarkable achievement for a woman only 29 years old), and it’s clear that she knows how to take control of any situation and get everybody moving in the same direction. She cares passionately about commonsense gun safety measures, and making sure that all students are safe in their schools.
Whether it’s through organizing events like the gun safety town hall my campaign hosted in April, helping me create a listing of every… single… parade in PA-12, spending countless hours collecting petition signatures or hand-writing postcards to voters, Margie is a true Renaissance woman. I’m so thankful to have gotten to know her and to be inspired by her compassion and optimism. Oh, and by the way, happy birthday, Margie.
